The yellow diamond is one of the most rare stones in the world. White diamonds, while beautiful and in a class of their own, do not have the rarity of the completely unique look that those that are yellow do. A little over a forth of the world’s largest diamonds are yellow, and not even half of those are naturally the color.

Yellow is a relatively overlooked color in comparison to some of the other colors on the spectrum. Pink, blue, green, and black diamonds all seem to be more popular. Yellow diamonds are often not the first thing that comes to a woman’s mind when she is looking for a ring or another type of jewelry – but that does not mean that these diamonds are not sought after.

The fact of matter is, that is a yellow are so rare that many of the ones that you may see in stores are actually fake. These diamonds are treated to be yellow in color. While some this may seem like some form of cheating, the reality is that it is actually incredibly difficult to get a hold of diamonds are naturally yellow. Naturally yellow ones are sometimes called fancy yellow, because they do not need to be treated and hence are considered to be more elegant.

There is not just one shade of yellow. You can find a yellow diamond in just about any shade. You can find them in vibrant, bright yellow. You can find them in orange is yellow. And you can even find them in a very light, subdued yellow.

Any shade of yellow that there is, you can find a diamond in it. But chances of them being natural a rather low. Natural colored diamonds are often 3 to 5 times the price of natural yellow ones. That being said, they are very elegant be placed in wedding rings or necklaces to give and loved ones. No one will say “Oh, I want a yellow diamond” but anyone will be happy to receive them.

Yellow may not be on the top of everyone’s favorite colors list, but that does not change its beauty when it occurs naturally, whether in diamonds or otherwise. Yellow diamonds make the perfect addition to any gold, white gold, or platinum jewelry, and they are especially stunning on engagement rings. Though seeing a stone naturally in the color seems a bit strange, they do occur naturally and make absolutely wonderful gifts.

Nothing is more unique or rare in jewelry than the real yellow colored diamond. Every colored diamond has its own style, but those that are yellow are almost truly one of a kind.

Antique jewelry is worth a lot of money, so if it’s something you’re interested in, you normally have to be prepared for a substantial outlay. But if you know what you’re doing, it’s not difficult to pick some items up at wholesale prices.

Quite a lot of people sell secondhand jewelry via online auction sites such as eBay. This is an easy way of browsing but the prices are not be the lowest to be found. Sellers on these sites usually know the market value of their pieces and are trying to get the best price they can.

It’s worth keeping an eye on your local paper for estate or garage sales. They provide excellent occasions for picking up jewelry for just a few dollars. The people selling it often don’t know its real value, so the things you buy on the cheap could turn out to be worth a lot of money.

Of course you’re not going to win the jackpot every time, but some people really do have treasure stored away in their attics. Don’t despair if you find you’ve bought jewelry that has no value. You might be able to disassemble it and use the parts in a new way.

Once you’ve discovered that there’s antique jewelry to be found at yard and estate sales, you’ll be keen to keep visiting them. The excitement of spotting a bargain can be quite addictive.

Very cheap pieces can be found at estate sales where young people are selling off what they consider to be their grandmother’s ugly old jewelry at extremely low prices.

Make sure you do keep checking eBay for bargains, too. You’ll need to cover the jewelry, antique and vintage categories regularly if you’re serious about making money.

If you find something you want to bid on, check up on the seller’s reputation and ask questions to make sure you know what you’re buying. It’s safer to make use of the escrow facility that eBay recommends, too.

The Techni-Quadron watches which were similar, in many ways, to the Quadron which had a rectangular face and was released in 1928. These Gruen Vintage watches comprised of two dials. The big top dial had the hour/minute hands and the bottom dial, similar in size, had the second’s hand.

The Techni-Quadrons were often referred to as “doctor’s watches” as the huge seconds dial was easy to watch while measuring a pulse. The watch was also admired by various technical professionals, especially, engineers. Note that, all the dual dial Gruen watches were not doctor’s watches. On a Techni-Quadron, the dial consisting of hour/minute hand is mounted above where the crown enters the case, contrary, to the centre of the dial. Some of them also had an expanding buckle which allowed them to slide up to the arm, resulting in the freeing of the hand and wrist.

The Carr, French for square, which was released in 1931, was a convenient square-shaped pocket watch. The 12, 3, 6 and 9 numbers were arranged in the 4 corners giving it the shape of a diamond. It could be used by both the genders and hence was marketed as a man’s pocket watch and a women’s purse watch as well as a portable table clock. A number of models came with luminous hands and numbers so that the they could be seen in the dark. The Carr was terminated in the year 1934 and cost around at $55 (~ $1400 at present).

The Curvex, released in 1935, was available as the Curvex Governor for men and the Curvex Queen (1936) for women. It is the most famous of the Gruen vintage watches and was the flagship watch until the late 1940s. The watch was produced until 1954.

An elite and unique aspect of the Curvex was that the watch as well as the movement inside it was curved. The patented movement (1,855,952) was applied in these watches and hence the configuration of the gears was curved in arrangement. Numerous other curved watches in the 1930s were compelled to use smaller movements which weren’t that accurate and were also very fragile.

Each and every real men’s Curvex watches were Precision grade and used any one of the four movements listed at the end. As a matter of fact, what makes these watches elite and Curvex, is the movement itself. The four movements which are possible to be used are; 1935- caliber 311 which is a long, thin movement; 1937- caliber 330- which is a long, thin and a curved movement; 1940- caliber 440- which is a short, square/oval movement and finally; 1948- caliber 370- which is a short and a wide movement (Curvametric).

The Ristside watches, pronounced as wrist side, were released in 1937 and were designed to be worn on the side of the wrist in line with the thumb. These designs of watches were extensively beloved by the collectors but were very rare as Gruen did not wish to sell many. There is a possibility that a few collectors would try to sell any watch which has hinged lugs as a Ristside. Except Fraternity (mentioned below) and another one similar model all the Ristsides are rectangular in shape and have curved cases.

The Curvex-Ristside watches fit into both the Curvex and the Ristside family of Gruen vintage watches. The Curvex Coronet, Curvex Lord, and the Curvex Admiral all used the 330 movement mentioned above. The Curvex-Ristside Fraternity had hinged lugs and used the 440 movement.

Earrings that include a stud worn at the ear lobe, and an attached chain that goes to the top of the ear by way of a second piercing or cuff, are known as slave earrings, or multiple-piercing earrings. These are even more unique looking than gold love knot earrings. Also included with the slave earrings, is an earring for the other ear, typically a stud or other small earring that complements the look of the other ear, without stealing attention from it.

The term “slave earring” was coined because of the way the two parts of the arrangement are chained together. When you look at these earrings you find that the ear lobe and upper cartilage are chained together in a much the same way that you may see in a slave bracelet or anklet arrangement.

Slave piercings were quite popular during the punk movement and have regained popularity after being seen in Star Trek which earned them the new moniker “Bajoran Earrings.” These sorts of jewelry arrangements are often worn by traditional Indian brides though they would feature a lot more embellishment than those we see in western fashion jewelry. While there are a few different treatments of the slave earring arrangement. In some a chain is also extended to a nose ring while others don’t really include an upper piercing, simply hanging a jewelry piece in the crease between the ear and the side of the wearer’s head rather than being attached firmly to the upper ear.

While a great deal of modern slave earrings retain their punk roots using chains and studs inset with stones but they have also reached out for a more refined appearance. If they are done properly, anyone can wear a slave earring. If you choose the proper earring for your desired look you can appear as feminine as you wish wearing a slave jewelry piece. TO achieve a more feminine look pick pieces with smaller pieces, more delicate chains and choose finer metals and precious gems.

When putting on slave earrings, the plainer earring should go in first. Avoid letting new tangles develop as you attach the stud of the slave earrings in your ear lobe. Take the second stud or cuff, and move it up in the direction of the top of your ear cartilage, carefully. Pin the stud, or attach the cuff. You may need to pinch the cuff gingerly, or tighten the earring stud, in order to ensure that it is securely fashioned.

You can maintain a feminine look, and still keep an edge, you should allow your earrings to be the focal point of your ensemble. You should stay away from other jewelry or accessories in the area of your slave earrings, that will cause visual crowding, and instead utilize bangles and rings.

You can add pizazz to a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, or embellish a pretty dress. There’s nothing wrong with livening your style with a punk-rock accent, but take care not to make the jump into a biker look. Use your slave earrings when you want to stray from the usual earrings of everyday, and let people know that you aren’t afraid to be unique.

It can be hard for people with sensitive ears to find earrings that are comfortable, especially with all the big hoops earrings out there. Here a few tips that can help you solve the problem of finding earrings for your sensitive ears. Most people with this problem are simply not able to handle most types of metal earrings. But there are earrings made especially for people with sensitive ears. People with skin sensitivities may not know that there are many options out there for people with metal allergies.

If you seek earrings that include “hypoallergenic” on their label, that is probably a good way to find a pair that will work with your sensitive skin. You can certainly do an online search using Google, or yahoo, or whatever engine you like. Enter the search as “earrings that are hypoallergenic” and you should probably get some good hits. This kind of search should generate many options for you. Also searching for earrings that are free of nickel can be helpful. You should also check if the online store you choose have a warranty or guarantee that you will not experience any sensitivity to their product.

Caution is needed as some earrings may be labeled “hypoallergenic” but they may still be made with metal alloys. While earrings made with metal alloys may contain very small amounts of nickel, this may still be enough to cause a reaction for people who are especially sensitive.

Skin sensitivity is different for every person. Some people are OK with a little bit of nickel in the metal they wear in their ears. Others will have a reaction just from a small amount. For those who are especially sensitive your earring choice should be narrowed to earrings made from 14k gold or sterling silver and should clearly indicate that they are also nickel free.

There are many websites online that offer earrings to people with metal sensitivities. Some of these websites are owned by people who have metal allergies themselves, so they can be very useful for finding the right type of earrings. These people know exactly how hard it can be to find earrings when you are sensitive to metal, and they can offer you many different solutions.

Stainless steel is the best kind of metal that can be used for earrings for people with sensitive ears. Stainless steel is the same type of metal that is used in medical and surgical rooms for instruments, equipment, implants and supplies.

Surgical grade stainless steel metal has been extensively tested and will not cause an allergic skin reaction. With a layer of gold on top of surgical stainless steel, you can have beautiful earrings without having to worry about skin irritation.

Almost everything from minerals, plants, shells, and of course metals such as platinum and silver, however just one may astonish you... coins.
Post from: www.mccoy-pottery.net

History of Coin Jewelry

Since the beginning of history, people have made jewelry out of stuff picked up in the natural environment. Everything from minerals, plants, shells, and of course metals such as platinum and silver, but just one may well amaze you… money in the form of coins.

Coin jewelry is not new. In fact, there exists archaeological evidence of coins getting cut and punctured from olden days. From the beginning of metal money, coins were often drilled or pierced as a functional feature in order to be worn round the neck or attached to an item of clothing.

Right now, there are several methods to the ways that coin jewelry is done, however the primary 2 techniques are whole and cut coins. In cut coin jewelry, the coin is changed in some manner by cutting, pounding, shaping, or drilling it. Whole coin jewelry essentially endeavors to protect the original coin simply by keeping it in place using the jewelry bezels.

It is legitimate to say that old coins can be irrevocably damaged by coin jewelry making, but the final item is usually so lovely that the price is really a lot more valuable than the initial coin most of the time. For example, take the lowly penny. The penny is merely really worth just one cent, yet can be turned into a piece of artwork which is worth a lot more. Almost all coin jewelry will undergo wear because they are worn as a result of friction, oils and salt in epidermis, along with other kinds of degradation.

Obviously, we recommend that you utilize coins that aren’t so uncommon that the sacrifice of using them for coin jewelry significantly exceeds the aesthetic worth of the piece. Nevertheless, remember that preserving coins by means of jewelry is a method to showcase the artistry and artwork of the actual pieces themselves. The truth is it will give you a way to connect oneself with the historic importance of these coins. As an example, in case you are a Civil War buff, then you may well think it is very appealing to put on a necklace having US half dollar from 1861.

There are many ways that you can take coins, and use them as jewelry decoration. They are often formed into rings, bracelets, earrings, money clips, tie tacks & bars, cufflinks, ankle bracelets, and much more!

While it usually is accurate that producing jewelry out of coins produces scarcity of coins themselves, it is also accurate it also improves the appeal of the coins. The appreciation level is not as elevated as when a coin piece is stuck away from you in a drawer somewhere.

How much thought do you put into keeping your jewelry organized? Do you have to untangle your chains and bracelets all too often before you go out? Is it far too troublesome to find the other earring of the pair you like? If you have trouble keeping your jewelry together or lose earrings all the time, not to worry. Try making use of a necklace stand.

One inexpensive idea is to use tackle boxes for your jewelry as well. Most tackle boxes are filled with tiny compartments that offer enough space to store rings, pendants, or earrings while keeping them safe and separate from each other.

It’s recommended that you hang your necklaces if possible, to prevent them from ending up in knotty lumps that are difficult to untangle. Ice cube trays and small boxes can also be used, as well as accordion-type fixtures that you can hang your jewelry on.

Another neat trick for preventing necklaces tangles is to thread a chain through a plastic straw, bring the ends together and fasten the clasp. In this way, your chains won’t get mixed up with each other. Then you can lay out your “straw chains” in your jewel box or inside your dresser drawers.

It’s also possible to use ring trees or jewelry box compartments to store rings for proper organization, allowing you to pick them out easily.

If you looking for a creative way to display your bracelets, necklaces and pendants, try a tie rack. Even watches and rings can be attached in eye-catching ways.

With the proper organization, you can keep your earrings together and not lose one of them. All you have to do interconnect the ends of the earrings by threading one earring post through the back of the other earring, clasping the earrings together and preventing them from becoming detached from one another, keeping them unified. If you don’t have butterfly back earrings, however, you might not be able to do this.

In the case of hoop earrings, you can still do this by clasping one loop inside the other loop, hooking them together and keeping them attached with closed clasps.

You can also use silverware trays, as the many different compartments are perfect for jewelry. There are also dresser drawer organizers and desk organizers that can fit this purpose.

For more info on jewelry, be sure to check out: jewelry necklace organizer or earring charms.

Stumbling upon a wonderful piece of vintage jewelry is always an exciting achievement. By taking it to a jewelry appraiser, you’ll be able to learn if your find is actually valuable. Estate jewelry is a great way to discover these treasures, and you may even find that there are some jewelry pieces in your family that are worth thousands. Following are some interesting pieces you might want to keep an eye out for when searching for estate jewelry.

Engagement rings are some of the more popular items found at jewelry estate sales. Often these rings are still in very good shape after many years and can be worn as is. You might also choose to put the stones into a new setting. You can also change the stones to make it even more original. Emeralds and rubies are popular choices, along with diamond rings featuring three stones. Another classic piece is the sapphire wedding ring, which was a favorite of couples in the mid-twentieth century.

Brooches are also part of the great finds that you’ll uncover when you search through estate jewelry. These decorative pins include precious stones, prized metals like gold or platinum, and pearls. There are so many fascinating designs of these brooches that you might want to start up a collection.

You can also find diamond and gold brooches from the Victorian era. Or you might be interested in an agate piece that sets off both business attire and formal wear alike. These brooches tend to be quite stunning with their dark, traditional appearance, and you’ll certainly want one in your antique jewelry collection.

Another favorite among estate jewelry pieces is the art deco brooch. Their vibrant colors and fascinating designs are perfect for a monotone ensemble.

Other estate jewelry you will come across consists of bracelets and bangles. The art deco period brought about lots of great pieces, and the bracelets are set with rubies and diamonds that are especially breathtaking. These items are worth thousands of dollars, and if you resell them, you can expect to get about $3000 for most bracelets that are made of mainly diamonds, or even more for bangles that are set with rubies or emeralds.
